The Liturgical Calendar
Pentecost is a Christian feast that Catholics celebrate 50 days after Easter to mark the end of the Easter season and the beginning of the Church. The word "Pentecost" comes from the Greek word pentekoste, which means "fiftieth". The feast commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, which empowered them to preach the gospel to the world. Red vestments: Worn by priests to symbolize the tongues of fire that descended on the apostles and the burning fire of God's love
